Biogas
Akuo Energy is involved in all stages of the life cycle of power plants: studies, design, financing, construction and operation.
Biogas is a combustible gas produced in natural environments or in specific devices through the anaerobic digestion or fermentation of biodegradable materials containing a high amount of organic matter, such as industrial and agricultural waste or municipal solid waste.
The primary ingredient of Biogas is methane, making it a powerful source of energy through standard combustion. Biogas is primarily used in industrial stills to produce electrical energy, steam or both.
Projects in operation
Biogas Plant in Pays de Nouzilly
Anaerobic digestion unit
The anaerobic digestion unit project known as Biogaz du Pays de Nouzilly (BPN) has been developed in partnership with the French Research Centre INRA in Nouzilly (Indre et Loire region). The industrial unit will be supplied with waste from the Research Centre as well as from external sources of waste. Biogas will be produced from this waste by means of anaerobic digestion and subsequently and converted into heat energy which will be supplied to the buildings which comprise the center as well as a barn-drying unit. The remaing waste from the anaerobic digestion process will be used by the INRA to fertilize cultivated areas.
Waste deposits
Waste deposits will amount to 14 450 tons/year, among which 47% are generated from the INRA site of Nouzilly. The electric potential power thereby produced is 373 kWe.
