The Akuo Foundation has been created by the Akuo Energy group, a renewable energy Independent Power producer that operates power stations worldwide producing green electricity out of wind, solar, hydro, biomass and biogas. Sustainable development is at the heart of Akuo Energy’s culture. Since its creation, it has always promoted smart projects beyond power plants, integrated in their environment and adapted to the scale of the territories where they are located. We take great care to design projects that support local initiatives and bring further sustainable benefits to the populations beyond green power.
Akuo Energy is very proud to have created the Akuo Foundation under the aegius of the Fondation de Luxembourg, as it is a vehicule that will enable Akuo Energy to leverage its impact and to embrace new projects on a non for profit basis. It will also enable partners to join its initiatives and especially to support deprived populations worldwide to:
1. Access to renewable energy ensuring continuity of supply at sustainable prices;
2. Access to education and knowledge;
3. Access to water and health services;
4. Protect the environment and biodiversity including the promotion of new sustainable agriculture practices;
The Akuo Foundation values are engraved into Akuo Energy values and articulated around integrity, learning, innovation and together make a difference with the ultimate goal to contribute to make a better world. Its projects are well balanced between support for projects from established partners and self generated projects that open new areas and new opportunities to have more impact.
Greenschool (Bali)
The Greenschool was created in Bali by architect John Hardy. All of the school’s structures and furniture have been made exclusively from bamboo. Bamboo is easy to cultivate, it adapts to almost all types of soils and is a high consumer of carbon dioxide, which makes it a terrific green tool. The school will gather 700 pupils and will become energetically self efficient, partly thanks to Akuo Energy which is in charge of determining the school’s energy needs and designing and installing an energy generation solution specific to the precise needs of the school.
Elementerre

A.C.E. is a non-profit association which was created in 2007 with the aim of making young generations aware of environmental issues and sustainable development by means of simple daily gestures and reactions, the ecogestures.
The ElémenTerre outreach program addresses these issues through a pragmatic, interactive approach, which mobilizes college students, their teachers and even their parents, in particular by means of involving them in all of the French volunteer schools, by encouraging them to modify and adjust their behaviors which have the most adverse effect on their environment.
