FLORIDA II - 50 MW
Uruguay
In operation

  • Location: Florida, Uruguay
  • Installed capacity: 50 MW
  • Status: In operation
  • Turbines: Vestas V117 - 3.3 MW
  • CO₂ emission reductions per year: 36 228 tons
  • Power supply per year: Equivalent to 73 413 households

Located in the Uruguayan region of the same name, Florida II, which came online in August 2016 is an extension of Florida I. The two projects have installed capacity of 100MW between them, making this one of the most powerful wind farms in the country, particularly because production ratios are over 40%. The green electricity generated by these two plants is sufficient to supply the region twice over.

Akuo Energy’s investment in Uruguay forms part of a national program to develop large-scale wind power. With very good wind resources, Uruguay has become an example to the rest of the world, generating 90% of electricity from renewable sources, including more than 30% from wind energy.
