The Olmo II facility in Corsica is located alongside a seasonal stream, amongst farmland and other solar farms, thus forming part of a real agri-energy hub. The project was developed to integrate perfectly with its environment: two artificial ponds have been created to provide a natural environment to encourage the establishment of indigenous species such as Corsican and Sardinian painted frogs, the Sardinian tree frog and the European pond turtle.

In addition, the agricultural elements of the project include the site’s year-round availability for grazing by a flock of sheep owned by a local shepherd and cooperation with local honey producing organization Syndicat Apicole Corse, which installs nearly 40 hives on the site as these are relocated over the summer. Lastly, Akuo Corse Energies is also seeking partners for the farming of myrtle, an indigenous wild plant, for the production of essential oils and liqueurs.
