  • Location: Rapale, Corsica
  • Installed Capacity: 9.8 MW

  • CO₂ emission reductions per year: 6 636 tons
  • Power supply per year: Equivalent to 4 694 households
  • Cultivated specie: Grazing

Having started operations in October 2010, the Rapale project claims a special place in the history of solar power in Corsica in two respects. Indeed, not only was it the island’s first such PV project (and the 5th in France), but it will also be the island’s first “repowered” solar farm once the construction of Rapale II is completed. Located in the Rapale district to the north of the island, the facility consists of three fields separated from each other by wooded hillsides.

As well as creating electricity from a renewable resource, half of the land occupied by the Rapale project will be devoted to farming, livestock or nature reserves. An Agrinergie® partnership has been created with a local farmer, “Casgiu d’Amore”, who can use all of the land for grazing his sheep, storing his equipment and accommodating a feeding area.
