Croix Benjamin
Akuo’s largest wind farm in France
The Croix-Benjamin facility is Akuo’s largest wind power plant in France. It is located in the Aube and Marne departments some 100 km / 60 miles east of Paris.
With an installed capacity of 28 MW generated by 14 turbines, this wind farm is very well integrated into its environment and is participating in the energy diversification of a region historically geared towards the production of electricity via conventional energy facilities.
Furthermore, the presence of two other Akuo wind farms in the same region (Fontaine-Macon I and II, with a total output of 20 MW between them) has enabled a new Vestas maintenance center to be constructed near the farms, and thus new non-relocatable jobs to be created in this rural area.
Our CSR commitment
Preservation of local fauna
To offset the wind farm’s impact on the local fauna, Akuo rents agricultural land near the plant to set aside as fallow land and thus allow all the local fauna (birds, insects…) to nest and feed there.
Reduction of the noise level generated by the turbines
The impact on local residents has been fully taken into account: small aerodynamic appendages (serrations) have been placed on the turbines’ blades to minimize their volume level, and processes to limit their rotation speed have also been implemented in certain cases.
Active dialogue with local residents and elected officials
The teams who manage Akuo’s assets are in regular contact with local residents and elected officials to ensure a good and balanced relationship between the wind farm’s activities and residents’ daily lives.
Ecological commitment
Akuo has signed a contract with a green electricity supplier for the facility’s electricity needs.
