"The ecological leap": seniors and young people in solidarity
The project
Faced with the negative impacts of climate change, Grands-parents pour le Climat and Le Laboratoire de la Transition believe that it is essential to change our dominant lifestyle and that young people will be a major force behind this change. The two associations are looking to involve elderly people and young people in practical, community-oriented and intergenerational actions to gradually inspire collective thinking and maybe positively influence, at their level, the measures taken by economic and political decision-makers.
The aim of this project is to support and encourage young people (primarily those aged 14 and up) so that instead of being a source of withdrawal into oneself, eco-anxiety can become a mobilizing force. Once they have received specific training from Le Laboratoire de la Transition and Grands-Parents pour le Climat, senior citizens who are interested will have the possibility of making their skills and networks available to support young people with concrete initiatives, from planting trees to organizing discussion groups and conferences.
To do this, the two associations must train senior citizens and assist them in their first co-productions with youngsters. At the same time, they need to coordinate and publicize their project to ensure its development over a long period, always in accordance with changes, problems and solutions that emerge.
