Solar power at the heart of Mauritius
Henrietta, a 17 MW solar project on Mauritius, was developed jointly with the local leader in real estate, Médine Ltd. Henrietta benefits from the industrial, administrative, and regulatory expertise of its two shareholders.
This solar project embodies the island’s ambition to integrate renewable energies into the energy mix. Mauritius aims to reach 35% of renewable energies by 2025. Like many other Akuo projects, Henrietta features an agrivoltaic component.
A project commensurate with the ambitions of Mauritius
Local employment
In addition to the strategic aspect for the island with its 17 MW of power, the Henrietta project contributes to local economic development by employing a dozen inhabitants from the neighboring town who take charge of the plant’s security, maintenance, and management.
Farming
The agricultural component of the site is also remarkable. Lemongrass, rosemary, and mint have been planted and there are plans for other types of crops (ginger, sweet potatoes, and other rhizomes). This farming component, which represents the DNA of Akuo’s projects, is expected to expand in the coming years with the future installation of a well on the site of the solar farm.
