Located in Alentejo, the Santas plant is perfectly positioned to harness the Mediterranean sun, benefiting from an impressive average of 2,030 hours of sunshine annually. This means it can deliver local and renewable electricity to more than 100,000 homes. ? ? Our commitment to sustainability includes rigorous environmental measures throughout the plant’s lifecycle, resulting in just 27gCO2e/kWh, well below the power plant average 44gCO2e/kWh according to ADEME, the French Agency for Ecological Transition. The Santas power plant enables over 70,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions to be avoided every year. Akuo and @[Axpo Polska] have signed a Power Purchase Agreement PPA! The PPA covers the offtake of electricity generated by the Akuo power plant in Wielowies, Silesia. ? This wind farm has a total installed capacity of 66 MW and is set to produce approximately 220 GWh of green energy annually—enough to power around 200,000 households. Axpo, with over 20 years of activity in the Polish market, is Switzerland’s largest energy producer and an international leader in energy trading. Together, through this PPA we are committed to supporting the transition to sustainable energy in Poland and reducing CO2 emissions by around 300,000 tons annually! PPAs are a key instrument of the ecological transition. Celebrating the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer This day marks the International day for the preservation of the Ozone Layer, an important reminder of our collective responsibility to protect this vital shield. At Akuo, we are committed to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. Through our activity of producing clean, renewable energy in more than 20 countries, 1 025 526 tCO2e have been avoided by the production of Akuo’s electricity in 2023. Putting this into perspective with our carbon footprint, means that for every ton of CO2 we emit, we are preventing 24 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. Since 2016, Akuo has operated 132 MW of wind energy, contributing significantly to Poland’s clean energy transition and reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 300,000 tons annually. Carbon footprint: -37% CO2 emissions, a result aligned with Akuo's values and commitments! With a strong desire for internal practices to be in line with corporate ambitions, we have been measuring our carbon footprint for several years now, to develop proactive policies tailored to our business sector. The results are there for all to see! The 2023 Carbon Footprint shows a 37% reduction in our CO2 emissions compared with the previous financial year. This is the result of 3 factors: - ✈ Improved commute management - ?Better waste management - ?
