European Commissioner's visit of our Minas wind farm: Akuo at the heart of the EU-Uruguay collaboration Did you know that 41% of investments in Uruguay come from the European Union? This strong partnership is perfectly illustrated by our Minas Wind Farm that Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Energy, visited last sunday during her mission in Uruguay. ? Built by Akuo in 2014 with 100% EU technology, debt and equity, the 42 MW farm plays a vital role in making Lavalleja nearly energy self-sufficient while reducing by half the cost of electricity generation. A great honnor and opportunity to showcase Akuo’s expanding role in the energy transition, as well as our commitment to delivering clean, sustainable energy in Uruguay, in collaboration with EU and local players. This visit was followed by a deep-dive into Uruguay's energy mix during the ‘Renewables Up and Running’ conference, organized jointly by Uruguay and the European Union. Located in Alentejo, the Santas plant is perfectly positioned to harness the Mediterranean sun, benefiting from an impressive average of 2,030 hours of sunshine annually. This means it can deliver local and renewable electricity to more than 100,000 homes. ? ? Our commitment to sustainability includes rigorous environmental measures throughout the plant’s lifecycle, resulting in just 27gCO2e/kWh, well below the power plant average 44gCO2e/kWh according to ADEME, the French Agency for Ecological Transition. The Santas power plant enables over 70,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions to be avoided every year. Akuo and @[Axpo Polska] have signed a Power Purchase Agreement PPA! The PPA covers the offtake of electricity generated by the Akuo power plant in Wielowies, Silesia. ? This wind farm has a total installed capacity of 66 MW and is set to produce approximately 220 GWh of green energy annually—enough to power around 200,000 households. Axpo, with over 20 years of activity in the Polish market, is Switzerland’s largest energy producer and an international leader in energy trading. Together, through this PPA we are committed to supporting the transition to sustainable energy in Poland and reducing CO2 emissions by around 300,000 tons annually! PPAs are a key instrument of the ecological transition. At Akuo, we are committed to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. Through our activity of producing clean, renewable energy in more than 20 countries, 1 025 526 tCO2e have been avoided by the production of Akuo’s electricity in 2023. Putting this into perspective with our carbon footprint, means that for every ton of CO2 we emit, we are preventing 24 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. Our presence underscores our commitment to transforming Poland’s energy mix to a sustainable model. Since 2016, Akuo has operated 132 MW of wind energy, contributing significantly to Poland’s clean energy transition and reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 300,000 tons annually. We thank our partners at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry CCIPF for organizing interesting roundtables at the Café France, where our CEO, @[Adam Bedyk], had the pleasure to exchange with the Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski about the future of clean energy.
