🔌 Producing energy locally: a key lever to accelerate the energy transition and strengthen Europe’s energy sovereignty   Last week, at the @[Raise - Investir na Transição Energética] Final Summit, @[João Maria de Macedo Santos] took part in a panel discussion on “The energy transition as the new geopolitics”.   📢 His key message was clear: in this new geopolitical reality, the real answer to energy security is accelerating the energy transition.   By producing energy locally from resources such as the sun and wind, we reduce geopolitical dependence and price volatility. It also calls for a rethink of how we invest in energy. Countries with strong renewable potential and stable regulatory frameworks, like Portugal, demonstrate how policy continuity can attract long-term investment and support projects that are firmly rooted in local territories.   🤝 At Akuo, we are convinced that humanizing the energy transition is essential:  it is not only about gigawatts, but about innovation, agriculture, biodiversity, and local value creation. The success of the projects depends on how well they are integrated in their local environment, co-constructed with the communities and benefitting them through more stable electricity bills, employment and regional development.
