Akuo's first energy storage project in hexagonal France

Located in Annet-sur-Marne, Seine-et-Marne, the Annet Storage facility is Akuo's first stand-alone energy storage project developed in mainland France. With a capacity of 17 MW / 60 MWh, it will become the largest battery storage facility in the department once commissioned.

As Akuo's first lithium battery project in mainland France, it will help enhance the flexibility of the electricity grid and facilitate the integration of renewable energy. Located on part of the site of the Les Gabots solar power plant, which has been in operation since 2020, the project builds on the energy activities already established at the site.

An innovative business model to support the development of energy storage

Annet Storage is based on an innovative business model that directly monetises the services it provides to the electricity grid. By participating in the various electricity markets, the facility stores energy when it is abundant and releases it when demand increases.

Thanks to its near-instantaneous response capability, it also contributes to system services, particularly frequency regulation, which plays an essential role in maintaining the real-time balance of the electricity grid.

As a pilot project for Akuo, Annet Storage paves the way for a new generation of energy storage infrastructure capable of accelerating the integration of renewable energy while strengthening security of supply.

A project developed in partnership with the local community

Developed in consultation with the municipality of Annet-sur-Marne, the project builds on the relationship of trust established over the years between Akuo and local stakeholders, while extending the momentum created by the Les Gabots solar power plant.

In a region that relies heavily on electricity imports, Annet Storage helps support the area's energy transition while generating economic benefits for the municipality.

An integrated environmental approach

Located on a former storage area for inert soil from the Grand Paris construction works, the facility contributes to the rehabilitation of previously developed land without encroaching on natural or agricultural areas.

The land-clearing work required for the project has been offset through participation in a replanting and restoration programme on the site of a former campsite, carried out in partnership with SAFER Île-de-France and the municipality of Annet-sur-Marne.

Finally, the facility incorporates the latest safety standards, particularly for the prevention and management of fire risks.
