Mignot
First hybrid floating solar power plant in a non-interconnected area
With an output of 3.63 MWp and an energy storage capacity of 12.7 MWh, the Mignot hybrid floating photovoltaic plant is the first of its kind in the Lesser Antilles. Positioned on a reservoir in the municipality of Le Robert on the island of Martinique, the project will play a decisive role in this island territory’s progress towards energy self-sufficiency.
By establishing itself on an island at considerable risk of earthquakes and hurricanes, this project also marks a major step for AKUO in its development of “floating solar” technology.
The plant’s storage batteries, meanwhile, will enable the energy produced during the day to be redistributed at peak consumption times such as in the evening when demand is greatest, the goal being to strengthen and stabilize the island of Martinique’s power grid as much as possible.
