Tennyson
Akuo’s First Solar Power Plant in the United States
Located in the Coke County, in Texas, where Akuo already operates two wind farms, the Tennyson plant will be Akuo's first solar power plant in the United States.
It is situated on long-term leased land in an area with no competing uses.
The Tennyson project is designed to qualify for domestic content rules, thanks to the supply of First Solar panels, Nextracker Inc. smart solar trackers, and other American equipment. This technology tracks the sun’s path, which allows for optimized production throughout the day, and safely stows the PV modules in case of hail.
The total installed capacity is 195 MWp, with a feed-in capacity of 150 MWac to the local grid.
The electricity produced will be sold under two 15-year power purchase agreements (VPPA and PPA) with Sasol and Imerys.
These agreements are part of their respective energy transition strategies.

With the Tennyson photovoltaic power plant, Akuo proves that the distribution of renewable energy to companies interested in purchasing renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change is also a process of creating sustainable value. We are honored to be able to work with partners like Imerys & Sasol to help them achieve their environmental goals.

Our CSR Commitments
Reducing CO₂ Emissions
Sasol: The contract provides for the supply of 91 MW of renewable electricity, or approximately 250 GWh per year. This will cover 50% of Sasol's Lake Charles Chemicals Complex's annual electricity consumption, reducing CO₂ emissions by about 90,000 tons per year.
Imerys: The contract provides for the supply of 57 MW, or approximately 153 GWh per year. This will cover at least 30% of the annual electricity consumption related to Imerys' U.S. activities, resulting in an estimated reduction of 67,000 tons of CO₂ per year (i.e., 3% of the group's Scope 1 and 2 emissions based on 2021 figures).

Support for the energy transition
The Tennyson project will increase renewable energy production at the regional level while providing committed customers with long-term visibility on electricity volumes and prices.

Local job creation
Its construction will mobilize up to 400 employees and subcontractors in Coke County.

Site management
Potential use of sheep in operations to control vegetation.
