BELLEGARDE - BROUSSAN – 2 MW
France
Agrinergie® project - in operation

  • Location: Gard, France
  • Installed capacity: 2 MW
  • Status: In operation
  • Technology: Agrinergie® photovoltaic greenhouses
  • CO₂ emission reductions per year: 168 tons
  • Power supply per year: Equivalent to 865 households
  • Cultivated species: Biologic apricots and beekeeping

With the Château PV farm, 3.9 MW, Broussan, 2.0 MW is part of the Bellegarde solar plant, 5.9 MW, which is the first Agrinergie® project to come into operation in mainland France. The greenhouse structures allow for very tall crops and are used to grow trees, offering a very rare sort of shelter for these species. Protected from the vagaries of the weather, organic apricot trees are grown by a local farmer in the Agrinergie® greenhouses and produce very high yields when compared to the habitual losses from this type of agriculture (up to 50% of the crop can be lost to bad weather each year).

Moreover, Agrinergie® greenhouses are an excellent tool for organic farming, as they allow humidity to be controlled, thus avoiding the need for massive use of pesticides by limiting the growth of parasites and fungal infections.
