LIGNE DES 400 – 2.6 MW
Reunion Island - France
Agrinergie® project - in operation

  • Location: Saint André, Reunion Island
  • Installed capacity: 2.6 MW
  • Status: In operation
  • Technology: Ground mounted panels
  • CO₂ emission reductions per year: 2 820 tons
  • Power supply per year: Equivalent to 1 287 households
  • Cultivated specie: Passion fruit and fruit trees, in organic conversion

The Ligne des 400 solar farm is, as the name suggests, at a height of 400 metres in the south of Réunion. This project with an Agrinergie® component has ground-based panels and covers a total of 5.7 hectares, some of which is not used by the solar panels so as to leave it free for the planting of fruit trees and aromatic plants. Agriterra, a subsidiary of Akuo Energy, manages the agricultural activities on site, growing passionfruit in the rows between solar panels.

In the free space, Agriterra grows various types of fruit (citrus, mangos, avocados, etc.) and aromatic and medicinal plants (cinnamon, camphor, eucalyptus, ylang-ylang, etc.). The site is in the process of conversion to organic agriculture. This plant meets a local need for energy in a part of the island where the grid has previously experienced difficulties.
