The solar farm at Pierrefonds was Akuo Energy’s first solar farm to come into operation in the country. It integrates perfectly with its environment and supplies electricity to a part of the island where the grid has difficulties. This was also the first solar plant to incorporate the Agrinergie® concept: the rows of panels are deliberately spaced to allow cultivation of the space between them.

The cultivation of lemongrass, which is traditional in Réunion, enhances the solar plant on a site whose natural topography has been retained, helping the panels blend harmoniously into the landscape.
