Akuo created a subsidiary in Bali (Indonesia) in 2012 to meet the significant energy needs expressed by the Indonesian government, particularly in terms of the development of renewable energy.
It is in this perspective that Akuo develops, finances, builds and operates the whole range of renewable energy technologies (solar, wind and hydraulic) available on the Indonesian territory. AKI has a team of 25 people having offices in Jakarta and Bali.
With a country with more than 270 Million populations (2020) and a solid economic growth, Indonesia should see an increase of 4% per annum in national’s demand for electricity at for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, it should also increase its electrification ratio from 70% to 100% (in 2024) while time increasing the renewable energy penetration from 5% (2011) to 23% in 2025.
With its expertise on islands and non-interconnected areas, Akuo Indonesia is well-positioned to develop a fully-integrated, tailor made high-quality projects in a country of 17,000 islands which is experiencing rapid economic growth.
As the first step, Akuo Indonesia , with the support from MCA Indonesia, has implemented Indonesia’s biggest off-grid Hybrid solution (Solar PV-Battery-Micro hydro-Genset) spread in three villages in East Kalimantan / Borneo Island that was commissioned in 2018.
In the medium term basis, trust on its capitalisation on innovative and proven solutions such as Solar PV or Wind with storage (battery or water/pump storage), Agrinergie® and Aquanergie, Akuo Indonesia with its creative flexible team and also an expert support from Akuo HQ (Paris) would realize its 500 MW+ of development portfolio. Akuo Indonesia has partnered with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) to co-develop hundreds of MW.
