Solar GEM® et Storage GEM®

  • Location: Indonesia
  • Installed capacity: 3.3 MWh
  • Status: In operation
  • Technology: Solar GEM® et Storage GEM®
  • CO₂ emission reductions per year: 1200 tons
  • Power supply per year: Equivalent to 100 households

AKUO joined forces with MCA-Indonesia (Millennium Challenge Account - Indonesia) in December 2016 for three projects that are now among the most advanced green energy production hybrid mini-grids in the world. AKUO has deployed its two innovative flagship products, Solar GEM® and Storage GEM®, in three Indonesian villages (Merabu, Long Beliu and Teluk Sumbang). With a combined solar capacity of 1.2 MWp and a storage capacity of 2.1 MWh entirely integrated, the three mini-grids supply these communities

with renewable electricity 24 hours a day. Solar GEM® offers the flexibility and portability of solar PV, while Storage GEM® enables the excess solar PV energy generated during the day to be stored. The villages can thus enjoy uninterrupted green electricity throughout the night. The three mini-grids are operated by a local board owned by the villagers, and AKUO has provided these villagers with training to give them the necessary skills to maintain and operate a mini-grid.
