The Lherm electricity plant is a photovoltaic plant incorporating an agricultural component. Located in the commune of Lherm to the southwest of Toulouse, the plant has an installed capacity of 10.5 MWp and provides clean energy to the village of Lherm while bringing farming back to land that is not very fertile and had been fallow for several years.

The plant came online in early 2020. The agricultural project enabled a mixed herd of sheep and goats to be established on the site, in partnership with a local farmer. Several ecological features (ponds, hedges) are also helping to improve the site’s biodiversity.

Lherm

Our commitment

The provision of a fenced area to a local livestock farmer enabled a herd of ewes and goats to be established across the Lherm site’s 18 hectares. The animals benefit from the shade offered by the solar panels, which also help the meadows better cope with the severe droughts the region can experience.

The site is environmentally monitored on an annual basis by independent consultants, which has revealed the presence and retention on the site of numerous species of birds, bats and amphibians such as the Meadow pipit, the Red-backed shrike, the Mediterranean tree frog and the Palmate newt. A pond has notably been reconfigured and expanded via a network of ditches in order to maintain a diverse humid setting conducive to amphibians.
